About Sharon Diane King
Origins: I was born in Fresno, California, and will probably never live it down.
Is that an Egghead on my face? It’s true: I hold a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from UCLA. I am an Associate at the UCLA Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies. I have worked off and on as a researcher at the Getty Research Institute. Among other subjects, I have taught French, Shakespeare, humanities, and surrealism, and arguably the most surreal subject of all: deprogramming college students from the 5-paragraph essay.
My occasional acting troupe Les Enfans Sans Abri has been performing short 15th- to 17th-century comedies, mainly from France and Spain, for the past 20 years. I have done the translations, coordinated the productions, and often directed as well as acted. Keeps me off the streets.
True confessions: I love everything about comedy, horror, and herpetofauna (i.e. reptiles and amphibians); I love much about fantasy, science fiction, and my husband. I detest being wet, and dolls make me run right out of the room.
Plans: To Be Determined.
